The Valens Company is seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team in Kelowna, BC.

The IT Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and integration of IT infrastructure, network configuration, cyber security and cloud technologies in order to ensure a stable, reliable and secure IT environment. The incumbent understands the role of Information and Communication Technology in a growing organization, best practices, regulatory compliance and is able to find the right balance between moving fast, working with others and doing things right.

DUTIES:

  • Day-to-day monitoring, management and optimization of existing network and IT infrastructure
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems. Work with users, IT colleagues or in cross-functional groups as needed, until issues are resolved and solutions accepted by all parties
  • Plan and perform upgrades, changes and maintenance for the existing infrastructure in order to meet the growth requirements
  • Implement technology solutions and measures to provide cyber security protection and access control
  • Follow industry best practices, e.g. patch management, change management, proper testing, access control, data protection, etc. Make suggestions for improvement where applicable
  • Document work as needed, for both operational issues and projects, starting with the planning phase all the way to work being completed
  • Provide input into the IT strategy and infrastructure technology road maps
  • Participate actively in project teams in order to design solutions, implement systems and/or assist solve problems
  • Other duties, as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent. 10 years of IT experience
  • Good understanding of network design, optimization, LAN/WAN technologies, cyber security and cloud
  • Strong expertise working with Microsoft cloud technologies (Azure, O365, SharePoint), virtualization products (Hyper-V), switches/firewalls/WiFi (Cisco/Meraki), cyber security products (Sophos, Trend Micro), backup software (Veeam)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to analyze operational problems and implement solutions
  • Good knowledge of IT best practices for system security, compliance, change control
  • Team player, willing to share and play various roles as part of cross functional teams
  • Clear communication and ability to explain technical problems to both a technical and non-technical audience
  • Self-starter with strong time management, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Clean criminal record check
  • Professional certifications, e.g. Microsoft Certified IT Professional, is considered an asset
  • Stay current on technology trends in networking, optimization, cloud, cyber security and regulatory requirements
