We are looking to add a passionate Human Resources Coordinator to our growing and dynamic team. Reporting to the VP HR, the individual will take on a new hybrid role, supporting both recruitment and HR initiatives. This role will have a particular emphasis on supporting the overall recruitment efforts to sustain our continued growth while ensuring an excellent candidate experience. In this capacity, you will work on a variety of roles across multiple departments, and by coordinating with hiring managers and Valens leadership, you will be helping to build Canada’s leading cannabis company.  The other portion of the role will focus on taking responsibilities across a number of the human resources areas, including onboarding, HRIS and administration.

DUTIES:

Recruitment

  • Develop and update job descriptions
  • Post vacancies to various sites and job boards, leveraging social media and other innovative recruitment strategies, and maintain career pages on company’s website and other platforms
  • Champion the use and continuous improvement of the ATS
  • Screen candidates’ resumes and applications, verifying references as required
  • Schedule and conduct interviews with candidates, leveraging various recruiting and selection tools/methods within schedule, and manage candidates throughout the pipeline
  • Facilitate pre-employment testing and draft employment contracts
  • Provide information and insight to relocating candidates
  • Help organize and attend recruitment events and hiring fairs

Human Resources

  • Monitor and respond to general HR inquires regarding policies, procedures and HR related matters
  • Support with the development and implementation of the onboarding process
  • Become a technical expert for our HRIS (Dayforce) and assist with the optimization and enhancement of the HRIS, including reporting and automation capabilities
  • Timely and accurate processing of various employee master data such as: new hires, status and location changes, promotions, employment verifications, etc.
  • Assist with the digitalization of employee data files
  • Compile, analyze and prepare standardized or customized reports
  • Assist Manager with departmental projects as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1 years experience of recruitment and/or HR coordination
  • Previous experience in a Human Resources work environment is highly preferred
  • University/College courses in Business Administration or Human Resources Management an asset
  • Adept with social media tools for recruitment
  • Has a good working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong at time-management, multitasking and prioritization with minimal supervision
  • Possesses a sense of urgency and is highly adaptable to changing priorities and tasks
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information and issues with tact and diplomacy
  • Successful completion of criminal record check
