The Event and Community Engagement Coordinator reports to the Vice President of Marketing and will spearhead The Valens Company’s event and community outreach strategy. This will include planning and participation in Trade shows, Events (local and global), Conferences, and Sponsorships. They will work closely with marketing leadership to determine key events, handle attendance from start-to-finish (registration, attendance, etc.), and prove return on investment (ROI), coordinating events across Marketing, IR, Operations, Sales and Human Resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Spearhead The Valens Company Trade Show, Event, Conference and Sponsorship strategy, including but not limited to: identifying key events, internal team training for attendees (elevator pitch, demos, etc.), maintain pre- and post-show communication, and event attendance (as needed)
  • Work with Vice President of Marketing and all relevant functions to organize staff events
  • Develop company event strategy and objectives; spearhead initiatives to meet objectives based on lead generation, customer advocacy, and more
  • Negotiate and execute contracts for large- and small-scale events, coordinate on-site arrangements for all meetings and events
  • Prepare relevant collateral materials including name tags, materials, notebooks, packages, gift bags, registration lists, seating cards, etc. Work with the in-house creative services team to ensure events accurately represents The Valens Company brands
  • Work with the Consumer and Trade Marketing manager to create and coordinate ad campaigns and with the Social Media coordinator to ensure appropriate communications presence
  • Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports to leadership team and any relevant / participating functions
  • Travel frequently – up to 30% of your time will be spent traveling to various events
  • Analyze, track, and report on event ROI based on predetermined pipeline, revenue, and qualified lead metrics using CRM, email marketing, project management, and similar systems

IMPORTANT SKILLS: 

  • Proven experience carrying out event marketing efforts, including trade show planning, attendance, and reporting
  • Highly flexible and organized with an ability to manage resources, budgets, and onsite personnel
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral
  • Personable demeanour/excellent customer service orientation

KEY QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • B.A (required) in Marketing, or related field
  • 3-5 years of related marketing experience, ideally in event marketing, demand generation
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage resources, budgets, and onsite personnel
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral
  • Excellent research skills and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated capability as a team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Customer service attitude
